From Sept 13th:
First:
Erin and I are fine.
Second:
We wish to express our deepest sympathy
for any of you who have losses.
While we all know some people who were
lost, we were lucky enough to not have
lost any close friends.
Other then the minor inconveniences of not being able to stay at our home
we have been mostly unaffected. Every from Bigfoot.com is here working,
and those from TribecaTables.com are in the office. Phone service is
sometime spotty, especially to international destinations.
Erin is heading back to our apartment today, but I suspect that we still
do not have any utilities, and will remain uptown for the next few days.
For the unlucky who have has a close loss, they are doing what they must,
but the majority of us in New York are substantially back to our normal
routines. If you live and work north of 14th street, you would see little
difference from today and last week. There are lots of military and
emergency vehicles on the streets, and if the wind is blowing north there
is the acrid smell of fire in the air.
I am planning on posting my thoughts whe I have the time to articulate
them. I encourage you all to share your with me. Even better allow me
to post them here.
Below I archive some prior writings:
10:30PM EST (Sept 11th):
Heading that was posted:
Erin and I are fine.
We live 6 blocks north of the World Trade Center.
We heard (all) the blasts.
We had to leave our home on Duane Street.
We are staying at a friends on the upper east side.
Prefer eMail to phone, but
My cell seems to be working (917.572.7282)

Do not Panic...
Do not react out of fear or ignorance....
Do not jump to any conclusions....
Gather information, then react decisively...
Erin and I are uptown at a friends house.....
We spend the day helping various fireman and policeman...
- mostly letting them us our toilet and phone
- also keeping them current on any news breaks
(they had less access to news then we did)
at first all utilities worked....
around noon i lost one of 2 internet connections
an hour late, we lost one of 2 phone lines
then the other phone line
then all power...
when we left Duane all that was operative was water....
I believe that Erin and I were the last to leave the building....
We walked up Hudson then up 6th....
I was erie...
The streets were mostly empty...
Many emergency vehicles....
Some strange titles painted onto the sides...
Every 4 blocks was a police line...
Each one preventing people from going south....
One of our neighbors is a doctor and spent the day in emergency rooms
providing triage...
He said it was surprising how few people were admitted....
People were either dead or not, he has expected a much worse scene.....
During the day, leaving the WTC there were ambulances carrying the living, and busses carting out the dead....
Very surreal....
3PM EST (Sept 11th):
here are some stats....
about 10,000 people work in each tower...
about 40,000 people work in the "WTC" complex
events:
- tower one got hit by plane
- 18 min later, tower two got hit
- over 1 hour later one of the towers fell down
- a few minutes later the second tower fell down
tower one fell east (not on itself) taking out a few blocks.....
i spoke to someone who works in the WTC and was inside when the plane first hit...
he seemed to think that there were NOT additional bombs....
the trade center is built on top of a mall, etc...
the belief is that the infrastructure gave way...
apparent MANY buildings around the WTC are badly damaged.....
my guess is that 10-20,000 people were killed (just in NY)
2,400 were killed at pearl harbor
150,000 - 200,000 at Hiroshima
more updates later...
